I really like this.



Packaging:
Smooth plastic redish-orange body with a long white cap. Twist up format. Not the most glamorous looking but still a cute girly looking product, it has kind of a flimsy feel to it at times, but it works pretty well for me. The product itself is probably the same size as a normal chapstick, its a flat top design like chapstick.

Smell:
It smells sweet and maybe a little citrusy. Its not like cookies vanilla sweet, I wouldn't describe it as mangos though, maybe there's a hint of mango that I'm not really detecting. I do like the smell and it taste alright too, the smell does go away once on the lips, atleast for me I can't really smell it.

Color:
Its a sheer pretty color, but I think it differs with skin tone and how pigmented your lips are. The packaging color the actual product color is very similar. Since it was the darkest color of the lot that I chose, its a mix of orange and red, leaning towards red more. On my skin it looks orange but on my lips it looks red. I love the color, it looks like I've been eating strawberry popsicles all day. Its a juicy delicious red, not too dark and it goes great with my skin tone. I think its perfect for those who are too scared to wear red on their lips, I think this is the perfect amount of red without looking to garish, because its so sheer it still looks like your natural lip color.
My boyfriend perfectly described it as makeout lips, you know after an intense makeout session, blood rushes to your lips giving it a deeper color, yeah this would be it.

Texture:
It says its a lip balm, but I'm not so sure. Its not completely moisturizing, it doesn't seem like its healthy for my lips, it has a waxy consistency. It feels better than gloss in the sense it doesn't slip and slide everywhere, but not as good as chapstick and regular lip balm. It does have a sheen to it, but not crazy glossy, it does feel better than lipstick, there are no sparkles or glitter, which I like.

Staying power:
2 hours max and it gradually fades away. Sadly it is not a long lasting product, especially if you're the type that licks your lips.

Overall:
Its a nice simple product for only 12-13 ringgit, I think its worth it, although I did buy it on sale for 10 something. I use it when I need color on my lips and lipstick would be too much for the occasion, I definitely think it's worth trying out.

Products that bring me back

You know how there are certain things that you absolutely loved as a kid or a teen or even had special memories with certain products. I came across this site that sells Lip smackers and that just brought me waaay back. So I started reminiscing about certain beauty products that had made an impact.  

Lip smackers-
I remember every girl had this or have tried it. I was a huge fan of watermelon and for a dollar a piece it was delicious. I soon moved on to more moisturizing (adult looking) chapsticks and lipbalms but these gave me a slight happiness just thinking about them

Bonne Bell - Lip Lites in Cappuccino
I bought this when I was 13 and I loved it like crazy mad. It smelled like heavenly sweet coffee and I thought the color was awesome, and I've been searching for this color and smell in lip gloss ever since. The closest I've ever gotten to it was an Elianto lip gloss called beigee. At 13 this was absolute perfection, now I can't even stand lip gloss, maybe I should purchase this again, if only the drugstores sold this in Malaysia

Softlips in Strawberry/ Vanilla
I got my first kiss with these on my lips. So I'm very sentimental about this specific chapstick. I was totally infatuated with my best friend, I was a total awkward dorky mess and he was gorgeous basketball playing jock, I still have no idea how we became friends. But after the kiss he found out I was using this and he began calling me softlips, it still tickles me, puppy love. I should totally order this, I loved the thin shape of it and the mentholated tinglyness and it moisturized really well, as I do recall. 

Cream blush in a jar
There was this cream blush that I stole from my mom. It came in a glass jar, it was a rosey pink and made me look amazing, I don't know how to describe it. You know how you come out from the cold and you'd have this slight flush, yes this was it for me. I can't remember the brand and it was probably quite old. I still haven't found anything like this, it gave me this dewy goodness. I would actually buy this even if it was super duper expensive, thats how great it was.

Volume express mascara
It was my mascara for the longest time until they changed the formula, then it really didn't quite do it for me, but I do have fond memories of it

Avon black eyeliner
This is one of the first eyeliners I bought in Malaysia whilst on a uni budget. It was smooth and only cost 10rm, now I don't know anyone who sells avon. But this was one of my favorite pencil eyeliners.

Suave Hairspray in Passion flower
I still have some of this left from 8 years ago and it still smells like the best smelling hairspray ever. I hate the hairspray smell and I don't use a lot of products in my hair, and the only time I do is when I curl my hair and this is the hairspray. It holds nicely and smells great and I mean like body spray good.


Johnson Johnson baby lotion
I always stole this from my baby brothers and sister.

Tressume conditioner
Before I came to Malaysia I used this conditioner, I loved this conditioner. When my mom came to visit I forced her to bring over a couple bottles, it not only smelled great but made my hair all silky smooth. Now my hair is so oily and lifeless I've stopped using conditioners in general. I was quite thrilled when they brought it over to Malaysia and the price is alright too. My boyfriend also loves this stuff or at least is super curly hair does.

Calgon Body mist - Hawaiian Ginger
I don't really use perfumes but I got addicted to this body spray. It so sweet and summery, I also made my mother send this over when I ran out.

New Items! New Items!

I got some of my ELF items, YAY. Excited! Excited!

I cod'ed at Megamall yesterday, her boyfriend arrived an hour late, which I could totally understand considering that it was raining like hell yesterday and the traffic was maddening. I hate Megamall, no offense to the Megamall lovers out there, but I hate Megamall, once again I could not find anything worth buying there, its such a sad sad place. Anyways, quick snippets on what I got :)

ELF all over cover stick - Honey-Light
I wasn't sure if this would match, but surprisingly it looks great at an under eye concealer but I probably wouldn't apply this on my face because its slightly orange.

Eyeliner brush
Soft and nice, but I prefer my eyeliner brushes to have a slant, but it totally usable and its a lot softer than my other eyeliner brushes, they kinda uncomfortably poke me

Eyelash curler
curls surprisingly well, my only issue is the face that my eyes might be a a lil too small for these :|

cream liner- black
I love this stuff. Its so soft and creamy and it sticks like nothing I've tried before (I fell asleep with it on last night and it stayed throughout the night, top and bottom!) . It also makes the quickest smokey eye look.

Studio complexion brush
Super soft, haven't really used it yet.

Powder brush
This is the second one I have, I didn't want to keep mixing my blush and mineral foundation together. Its still as wonderful as the first one I got. It even has the horrible chemical smell, I'll have to wash them soon.

Mineral booster- Large
I have the small one that I always keep in my purse, this stuff is magic. The large one is huge it has .63 oz while the smaller one has only .18oz, I use this every single time I go out. Keeps my oilies in check and it gives me that flawless finish while looking natural. Its not cakey, I seriously love love this stuff. Holy Grail times 10, it is THAT good.

I surprisingly really really like this. This came with 3 eyeshadows: elegant, confident, wild, it also came with an eyeshadow brush, blending crease brush and a brown eyeliner. Everything is pretty great, except maybe the wild eyeshadow, it just looks like crazy glitter with a lil bit of brown.

Mineral makeup is awesome

So I've been playing around with makeup for the last couple weeks. More so than usual. The reason why is because I'm trying to get into mineral makeup. My friend from Singapore bought Everyday Minerals like TONS of samples. She found her color and she gave me the rest which was like 10 foundation colors. And picking and choosing the foundation color was hard as hell. But anyways, I kinda pushed them to the side because I was using Maybelline Pure Minerals (not so pure by the way) and it was working pretty alright for me. And then one day  I decided to try to pick my color. So tons of arm and face swatches later, I chose Golden medium / Light medium. And for some strange reason I was having "good" face days as in no breaking out, none of that tiny random adult acne. And I was ecstatic, its a breakthrough! I tried to go back to Maybelline one day and broke out just sporadically. It was very sad for me, since I love the coverage of Maybelline and the fact that it keeps me oil free all day long.

So yes, I thought this is absolutely amazing I'm going to just wear mineral makeup from now on. Now I haven't really fully utilized the makeup, you know going out into the sweaty sun for long periods of time, I usually go from non-sunny room to non-sunny cab to non-sunny train to non-sunny mall. So yeah, I went out with it one day and I took fresh makeup pictures and when I came back, it looked really dark. Like super dark, like I went out and decided to stay in the sun for 6 hours type of dark. I was like okay?? This is weird. I went online and I read that the problem with mineral makeup is the fact that it Oxidizes. I know...WHAT?! Yeah apparently, when you sweat in generous amounts the mineral makeup mixes with your skin to create that not so gorgeous orange glow. So you don't see it initially til its too late :'(

So some of the solutions of oxidized mineral makeup was to choose a lighter shade. Seriously, that's exactly what I want to look like a geisha. So back to choosing the foundation color, AAAAGH! Helpful hints or tips for choosing mineral make up(I have experience[kinda]):

• 1. Make sure your arms are clean before applying swatches(you don't want oils or other crap on your arm to effect the color of the foundation)
• 2. Use your fingers. For every foundation color use a new finger(don't mix) or wipe your finger before dipping into another color.
• 3. Make sure you remember the order of which you applied the foundation colors, they end up looking the same and its gets insanely confusing.
• 4. I use the upper inside of my forearm to test the color because that's the closest color to my face OR just swatch it straight onto your face
• 5. Here's the best tip. I apply them wet. I started becoming delerious because they all began to look EXACTLY alike. Plus I think with them wet it shows what would happen if I sweat with it on. 

• So I pretty much lightly(very lightly don't just plunge it) dip my finger in water and then into the sample and onto my arm and continue to do that with the rest of the colors until I have a nice tiger-like design running down my arm. When your testing it on your arm keep laying it on thick, dip a lil water if necessary so it doesn't look like just plain powder.

From there I sit and wait, its even better if you do it in partial sweat, yea, go for a jog or do it my easy way and just turn off the air conditioning. The waiting part is because the color of foundation changes either darker or orangey-er, atleast for me.
The golden medium that I totally thought was my color turned a light brown, which is not very golden or medium. I finally settled on 3 colors, Light, Light neutral and Winged Butter(too yellow tho).

Initially the colors look pretty pale on me, but then after 15 to 30 minutes to 2 hours it was my shade. So pretty much I start the day 2 shades too light, but instead of orange they do turn slightly yellowy-er Which is fine because I'm pretty yellow.

So after I've chosen which colors I think suit me, I test them on my face. What I did was use 1 color on half my face and another color on the other half. And then I go about my day bumming around and check my face for changes, whilst sweating(very important). Couple hours later I decide which foundation is best suited for me. They probably both look very similar, so its up to you. Yup this whole process took me a week. hahaha, I was very indecisive and the turning orange on me was unexpected

I wish I did not oxidize mineral makeup, but I'm not really willing to give it up. I haven't had clear skin like this since elementary school.
